Childhood Philosophy

A couple of weeks ago one of a newsletter I subscribe to caught my eye, The Marginalia.org.  The particular emailed essay was celebrating the origins of the website, and referenced the author’s opinion that great children’s books are philosophies for living in disguise. I agree. Some of the philosophies that I have found helpful in making my way through life, I have found examples of in stories both from fables and folklore handed down and even the most modern picture book. That might be why they are a part of my repertoire of writing.
