Giving or Support
With the holiday upcoming, my brain isn’t inspired to write and I am prepping these Thanksgiving posts ahead of time. So, please excuse a post that to me sounds too bossy. I need to get some prep work done and want to sit back and enjoy the parades, games and food.
Tuesday coming up is Giving Tuesday. Absolutely, give. Give to nonprofits, to people in need, help someone. Is it difficult to do at this exact moment? No problem. Plan on what you can give, how you can give. Schedule your follow through when if financially fits your budget. Often we have a thought that passes and we never follow through. Take an envelope and stick your spare change in it until you have an amount you feel you can part with and donate it. Know where you are going to send that money. (Your checking account, round up to the nearest dollar in your subtraction and keep a separate tally and when you reach your goal, a quick reconciliation can guarantee you have squirreled away enough to donate.)
AND
You can choose where you purchase gifts to support independent artists and craftspersons by choosing something from them a gift that suits the recipient’s personality. Your dollars are doing double duty. How cool is that. That could be a simple as visiting those last days of farmers markets (or contact the vendors to see if they have any fall veggies that will be harvested after the last days of your local farmer’s market) and create a curated basket of hearty fall veggies for those whose budget is tight limiting their grocery list. There are so many ways if you brainstorm how to fulfill those holiday gifts and support another household by choosing the gift you give.
Why not ask the recipient their preference? They may suggest something even better.
