Blankets and Socks

This is what’s on my mind today. Time to sort through the blankets and place the warmest, fluffiest and fuzzy blankets near my chair and by my bed. Those extra layers for this winter.

Checking that all the mittens and gloves are matched needs to be done soon, and checking all the hats and scarves are washed and any winter apparel mending completed. (Not fun to feel the bit of a cold wind with sleet through a rip or tear.)

The rugs are back down on the floor from their rolled up spots behind the sofa and from under beds. Recent discussion about why they were rolled up at the beginning of summer was resolved when one of the last mows for this year was completed. There is nothing like being able to lay in the middle of the living room floor between register vents of cool air crossing in the middle. Our dogs have always plopped right down in the middle not caring who had to step over them. Coming in for a water break, neither do I. But that season is nearly over.

Time to prepare for unwrapping oneself at the door. The sound of knocking boots against the railing to leave the snow on the porch and someone needs to find the shoe pan to catch the melted drops of ice caught in the crevices of shoe soles. The clothes line is up in the utility room to hang wet gloves and mittens. Then to pull one of those fuzzy blankets from the pile and wrap up until the hot chocolate is ready to warm from the inside.
