Children’s Literature
Funny coincidence.
October 15th The Atlantic Culture Desk posted an article about essential children’s books that encourage love of literature. Specifically picture books. The assessment is spot on, From my experience picture books are one of the hardest to complete. They do a lot in a short word count over fewer pages most books.
The criteria of their article limited the age group to those right about to start reading to themselves. It covers the span of publications from the 1930’s to present day. They looked for books that were exceptional in art work, prose and the all important re-read-ability until the book is falling apart ‘IT’ factor.
The first in their list wasn’t surprising, I won’t spoil it for you here. Many on the list are ones I would have put on my own. There were some new to me now on my to-read list. It is definitely one that parents could keep on hand for gift idea suggestions..
Here is a thought parents might want to keep a “We Already Own These Books” list to give out to those who ask for ideas for a gift. Maybe even a “We Own These Games and Toys” as well. Especially for those who live far away.
