PBS

First off, I support them. Second, love the shows, and have since Sesame Street. My memory goes back to when we were able to receive the KET channel. It grew with me, because I remember the Electric Company and that is when I became a fan of Rita Moreno and Morgan Freeman.

Same for my children and grandchildren, and as I aged, my interests turned to the cooking shows and the crafts. Now, I am so into the Masterpiece Theatre and we all sigh with the damsel in the opening credits. If you know you know.

One show I would like to suggest you look for on your local station is an art show called Pocket Sketching with Kath Macaulay. She is a hoot! I love her attitude. Now, this is really a watercolor on the go kind of show. She works in a small system that is portable, something she encourages.

This approach, I think makes it more obtainable. You don’t need a lot of space, or place to store materials. The adage of quality materials, yes, I agree, the better quality the better finish. BUT. It doesn’t matter to try. Cheap is ok, it is a place to start. The little watercolor paper books are not that expensive at all, and they can fit in your pocket.

I was impressed with Macauley’s perspective and attitude. She speaks of mistakes being a learning opportunity and some you can fix surprisingly even with watercolor and if not, it is ok, you have gained experience and it is a chance to practice that technique on that page.

PBS is one of our favorite channels and shows like this are why. It really is a life long educational and entertainment channel.
