It is has been seven and half months since we lost Valentine. She had what was believed to be an acute pancreatitis attack, which Yorkshire Terriers are prone to experiencing. We miss her very much.

She became ill late one night and in searching for her some emergency care, it became evident that the nearest facility was going to take the same amount of time to drive as the amount of time to wait for our local vet to open. It was frustrating.

She remained at the vet’s for five days. Her condition never improved and her new blood cell count continued to drop. That was a very bad sign that her recovery was not likely. I held her and loved on her.

We brought her home and found a local pet crematorium that would take care of her remains. We now have a paw print that when she is most missed can be touched. We still haven’t written her obituary. Yes, they have a pet obituary service as well.

Valentine was part of my inspiration for the first book. She was a character and the boss of the house. .

We also lost our grand-dog Daisy this summer. She was a sweet heart. Her favorite Ed Sheeran song was Shape of You. She would get up and shake her whole body every time she heard that song. It was adorable.
